Title:
"Risk associating injection of patients
with radiopharmaceuticals in Nuclear Cardiology" (in vivo and in
vitro)
Key Words:
Risk - patients - radiopharmaceuticals -
Nuclear Cardiology
Summary
The main purpose of the present work is to evaluate the risk
associating injection with different radiopharmaceuticals on the red
blood cells properties and functions. This was achieved through
measurements of the solubilization of cell membrane with non ionic
detergent, osmofragility studies and molecular properties of Hb
through measurements of the dielectric relaxation absorption spectra
and the morphological form of the RBCs through blood film as scanned
by an image analyzer The radiopharmaceuticals used were 99mTc,
99mTc-MIBI 99mTc-tetrofosmin and 201Tl
The results of the blood
characteristics for the patients after being injected with the
radiopharmaceuticals indicated that, there are changes in the cellular
membrane surface after injection this can be noticed from the
solubilization curves, osmofragility curves and blood films. The
degree of change in blood characteristics proved to be
radiopharmaceutical type dependent.
