Summary

The present work deals with the geoenvironmental evaluation of the Taiz-El-Turba district, which is considered as one of the most hazardous mountainous highly populated region in Taiz governorate. This district includes Taiz city, Jabal Sabir and Jabal Habashy in its northern part where floods and landslides hazards have been reported numerous fatalities damage during the extreme rainfall events. Slopes, aspect and shadow images were generated for the study area form the Digital Elevation Map (DEM). Four complete watersheds were recognized and morphometrically analyzed to assess flood hazards evaluation. Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques is used to integrate all results of the preset work in order to construct both hazard zonation maps and land use map as final output of the work.
